International and National Recognition
The AITI qualification has official recognition under EU Directive 89/48 thus enabling holders, on meeting certain criteria, to practice not only in Ireland but also in other EU Member States. Holders of the AITI qualification have the statutory right to appear and represent clients before the Tax Appeal Commissioners in Ireland and at a rehearing before a Circuit Court Judge. The Institute is Irelands representative on Confederation Fiscale Europeene (click HERE for the CFE website) the European body for tax consultants on which the professional association of tax practitioners in each EU Member State is represented.

Tax Administration Liaison Committee (TALC)
The Institute participates in the Tax Administration Liaison Committee (TALC), whose function is to resolve taxation issues of an administrative and technical nature. The committee has a permanent membership comprising of the Irish Taxation Institute, the Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies in Ireland, the Law Society of Ireland and the Office of the Revenue Commissioners.

Training and Supporting Ireland's Tax Consultants
At the heart of every business decision, every commercial deal and almost every financial transaction, there is one common denominator - taxation. The strong growth in the Irish economy and the constantly increasing international dimension to Irish business has lead to even greater demand for outstanding tax consultants. Taxation in Ireland is complex and all pervasive - it is an essential consideration for the sole trader as well as for the financial controller of a multinational plc.

The Irish Taxation Institute supports and trains its members to provide technically correct and commercially sound taxation advice. The Institute plays a key role in keeping its members and the general public, up-to-date on taxation matters and the Institute's educational, information, publications and other support services are vital in this regard.

The Institute itself does not provide tax advice or consultancy services, but recommends that one of its qualified members should be contacted if you require these services. For more information on the Institute visit www.taxireland.ie
